Klias, 6 June 2025 — The Sabah Women's Affairs Department (JHEWA) successfully held a three-day course on making various traditional and modern cakes and snacks in N.32 Klias. Held from 4 to 6 June 2025, it received a warm response from vulnerable women in the area.
Twenty-seven women from varied backgrounds participated, showing strong interest in traditional and modern kuih-making. Sessions ran from 8 am to around 5 pm daily, allowing participants to learn recipes and techniques suitable for everyday meals and special occasions.
JHEWA hopes the knowledge gained will be practised and shared more widely, preserving Sabah's traditional kuih heritage and improving local women's livelihoods.
The course achieved its objectives of empowering women and encouraging creativity in kuih-making. JHEWA thanks everyone involved and hopes similar courses will continue.
'JHEWA hopes participants will use their new knowledge and share it with their communities, helping preserve Sabah's culinary heritage.'
The course is one of JHEWA's initiatives to empower local women and build community spirit through beneficial cultural activities.
